Lives of Saints
Numerous hagiographies, ranging from the lives of the Holy Apostles and Prophets to the ancient martyrs and holy luminaries of the Church such as St. Mary of Egypt, St. John the Almsgiver, St. Sylvester of Rome, St. Benedict of Nursia, Ss. Barlaam and Iosaph, to the more recent New Martyrs under the Turkish Yoke and under Communism. Very edifying both in the teaching of the Faith and in the image of the Orthodox life it impresses upon our souls. Also includes collections of Saints’ lives and sayings such as the Paradise of the Fathers (Desert Fathers and Mothers).
Martyred by the Latins
New Martyrs Under the Turkish Yoke
New Martyrs of Russia
In the first half of the Twentieth Century, during the Bolshevik Revolution, and the years following, millions of Russian Orthodox Christians were martyred for their Faith. Many of their lives are chronicled in the excellent book called “Russia’s Catacomb Saints”. This book is no longer in print, but it can be found online in its entirety many places. Below are links to a site where you can read or download this book, either as a single PDF file, or as normal web pages. We’ve also included links to some of our “favorite” lives for your convenience.
